Painted Desert Ranger Cabin
Artists in the Desert Program

Are you an artist? Are you looking for inspiration? Painted Desert Ranger Cabin is looking for artists to partner with for our “Artists in the Desert” program.

What is in for the artist?

The Artists in the Desert program allows artists to come stay at the Painted Desert Ranger Cabin for 5-7 days free of charge. The Ranger Cabin sits on the edge of the Painted Desert wilderness area of Petrified Forest National Park. It is a secluded area free of urban light pollution, city traffic, and commercial enterprise. The cabin offers a place to enjoy the serenity of the desert and allows artists to experience the inspiration offered by the desert wilderness. Artists are expected to utilize the experience and the surroundings to work on their art. Artists working with any medium are encouraged to apply.

What is in it for the Painted Desert Ranger Cabin?

Ranger Ross and Ranger Kip get pleasure from supporting artists and giving them an opportunity to be inspired. We also ask that each artist donates a piece of art to the cabin which was created during your stay. These donated works will be put on display at the cabin along with an artist bio. Artists are asked to price their donated work as they see appropriate, and these displayed works will then be available for purchase by guests who rent the cabin throughout the year. The funds raised from the sale of these art pieces will be used to make cabin improvements and maintenance.

Want to Apply?

Interested artists should submit a letter of application to Ranger Ross at (Ranger_Ross@PaintedDesertRangerCabin.com) or Ranger Kip at (WhiteBuffaloCasita@gmail.com). Please include what medium you work with, dates you wish to visit, and a brief bio/personal history in your letter.
